To the idea behind the album of the week, go here.
Talk of the bible, references to Hank Williams and Nashsville, slow waltzes, wailing violons and string guitars, tales of booze, unfaithfulness, addictions and bar fights and the woes of love: With Tessy Lou William's record we are steeped in country tradition. In this case, it is a two-edged sword; on the one hand, you get your pleasing, but run-of-the-mill country music, both musically and lyrically, albeit at a high level - on the other hand, you have the unshakable feeling that you've heard it all before. What the album in my view lacks is a certain rough edge - even her impeccable almost liquid vocals leave you at times wanting something a little less polished.
Standout tracks: "Mountain Time in Memphis" & "One More Night"
