Dividend Update: September 2022

Steam Community :: My House My Rules :: Achievements

General Overview

Not wholly unexpectedly, the market crashed hard in September. On the whole, my portfolio dropped by a whopping 7,1%. In these times, the incoming dividends are a healthy reminder that while the markets crash, the companies do still turn a profit, but of course while dividends are safer than capital appreciation, there is no doubt that things will remain bleak for some time and it remains to be seen if all companies will be able to pay out (and even increase) their dividend. The coming earnings season might give us a glimpse as to how businesses are managing the current economic downturn. For now, I've collected a very satisfying 336,04€ in dividends this month, which means that I finally crashed the 300€ barrier which I had been working towards.

I received dividends from 41 stocks / funds with the biggest parts coming from the Ares Capital and the varying payout of the iShares EM Dividend ETF. The biannual dividend by Rio Tinto was the icing on the cake this month. On average, I received 8.20€ from every position and a daily dividend of 11.20€.

Winners & Losers

Top climbers of the month were Innovation Industrial Properties (7.4%) and Rio Tinto (5%), the biggest losers were financially senstive stocks such as AGNC (-25%) and the restructuring Newtek Business Services (-18%). AGNC in particular is a stock of which I've grown quite wary and which I wouldn't mind selling if it ever climbs again.
