Dividend Update: March 2023

Colombia on alert for possible volcanic eruption

 General Overview

... and then there was a storm brewing. In March, the financial world tumbled as banks both on this side of the Atlantic and across the pond started to wobble, sending tremors through the whole market. The worst - perhaps? hopefully? - seems to be over already and major disaster seems to be averted (for now?), but it was shocking reminder that we're far from being out of the woods.

The current unsteady economic situation is not only felt in the charts, but also in dividend payments this year. After Gladstone Commercial, Intel and SL Green Realty, there are still more cuts coming with both the BSTZ fund and Vonovia recently cutting their dividend. These are unstable times and leaning a little on the risky side, I will have to take those on the chin.

Despite the poor performance this month (-3.3%), I collected a record-high dividend: 462,04€. This is the second highest dividend month ever, being only shadowed by May last month (with all those juicy European dividends trickling in). The overview is as follows:

  • American Water Works: 4,21
  • Enbridge: 9,73
  • Intel: 2,03
  • Unilever: 24,73
  • Johnson & Johnson: 18,98
  • Pfizer: 5,89
  • Southern: 2,71
  • Microsoft: 5,43
  • Exxon: 7,32
  • 3M: 7,23
  • AGNC Investment: 5,06
  • EPR Properties: 3,07
  • Realty Income: 28,13
  • NextEra Energy: 4,07
  • Bank of Hawaii: 4,49
  • Consolidated Edison: 5,80
  • Clearway Energy: 3,57
  • Main Street Capital: 30,81
  • SL Green Realty: 2,37
  • Stag Industrial: 0,49
  • McDonalds: 6,04
  • Hercules Capital: 22,80
  • Owl Rock Capital: 0,10
  • Arbor Realty Trust: 6,90
  • Sixth Street Specialty Lending: 1,77
  • Easterly Government Properties: 3,58
  • Shell: 3,26
  • Hanf Alerian Midstream Energy Dividend: 3,44
  • BP: 5,10
  • Waste Management: 0,95
  • PepsiCo: 9,01
  • Invesco Emerging Markets High Dividend Low Volatility ETF: 3,69
  • Simon Property: 12,70
  • Golub Capital: 4,14
  • T. Rowe Price: 5,90
  • New Mountain Finance: 1,25
  • Ares Capital: 122,51
  • LTC Properties: 2,54
  • Oaktree Specialty Lending: 1,33
  • Imperial Brands: 2,24
  • SPDR US Dividend Aristocrat ETF: 25,38
  • VanEck Morning Star Developed Markets Dividend Leaders ETF: 17,75
  • The Renewables Group: 6,59
  • Blackrock Science and Technology Trust II: 3,96
  • Blackrock Enhanced Capital Income: 3,83
  • Blackrock Utilities, Infrastructure & Power Opportunities Trust: 3,27
  • Cohen & Steers REIT & Preferred Income Fund: 2,22
  • Cohen&Steers Quality Realty Income Fund: 2,29
  • Calamos Strategic Total Return Fund: 3,41

I'm happy to be comfortably above 300€ this month and hope to stay there (fingers crossed) for every month this year with February being the only exception.

YTD I'm doubtlessly lagging the S&P 500 (+7%) and the MSCI World (+5%) as I am -0.8%. Being heavily invested in the financial sectors as well, this month (just looking at the unrealized book value) proved to be a rather painful one.
