Album of the week: Ole Loneseome - Tejas Motel

Ole Lonesome – Tejas Motel | Album Review – Blues Blast Magazine

For the idea behind the album of the week, go here. (It is becoming more like the album of the month, but I'm defiantly carrying on  as best as I can. ;-))

Hungry for some blues while answering mails and cleaning up my files, I googled for best blues album of the last year and here the album of the year was the album I listened to this week.

Ole Loneseome is a texas-based blues rock band and "Tejas Motel" is their debut album. Their music is following well-trodden paths laid by such giants such as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones. Their album, featuring both some slower songs like "Ain't no good" and racy songs like "Gold Chevy", has an undenieable verve even though the wheel is of course not reinveted on this record.

If you're however in the mood for some zesty southern rock, then this might be worth your time.

Standout track: the songs somewhat resemble each other, but the songs that stood out for were the slower songs - "Ain't no good" (which has a touch of Jimi Hendrix's "Red House") and "The Fool"
