Dividend Update: April 26

Looking back on April, I have to say it was a rather successful month. Even though I was sick at the beginning of it, there were a lot of highlights that I want to review below.

First of all, and rather unexpectedly, I finally made it the 1K dividends a month. I expected to cross that threshold in May, but I'll also take it in April (and then again in May) ;-). It feels really good to have crossed this barrier even though of course it is largely symbolic. Still, a dividend investment is a long journey and I believe it is important to also celebrate the small steps along the way. Hence, I took out my much better half to a nice dinner and a tasty bottle of wine. Good times.

Second, I completed my next trail run. It was "only 15 KM", but it was in a part of Ecuador which has a rather tropical climate and we all felt it during the run. Running alongside banana trees and cacao growing, I was soaking wet after a good 15 minutes. Still, it was very satisfying to finish that race and the end of the race was near a river, which I jumped in fully clothed after crossing the finishing line. I'm already looking for my next trail.

We also had Easter holidays over here and we took the opportunity to go to the beach. It was lovely and I got to see water turtles in real life and swam/snorkeled with some rather colourful fish, which was awesome.

I barely checked my portfolio (apart from the dividends), but the stock market seems quite disconnected from the news I see sporadically and just continued to climb. I'm ok with that, but slightly wary of it. But since I buy every month anyway, it doesn't matter all that much to me. This month I bought a bit of Hercules Capital, ADP and the IncomeShares Gold Yield ETP.

This month, in fact next week, I'm going to the Galápagos Islands with my 6th graders and you can't believe how giddy I am to get there. A colleague of mine went last week and said it was mesmerizing. I know that I'll have to go back there on my own (and not with 20 kids), but since the school is paying this for me, I'll take it gladly.

So, a good April in total. Below I leave you the dividends I collected from the 28 stocks and/or funds and a few pictures from April:
