Dividend Update: June 26

June was a stressful month as the school year was drawing to a close. I have to say, all things considered, this year went flying by as I integrated into a new workplace, a “new” country (I had of course been in Ecuador a few times before, but being here on vacation and living here are still two completely different things) and found a new, albeit temporary home.

Normally, most months do have some sort of highlight (a trip, a trail, a competition, etc.), but June, most likely to the hectic nature of the end of the school year, allowed little time for that. There was naturally the World Cup and I didn’t mind the spontaneous holiday that the President of Ecuador announced after Ecuador beat Germany to advance past the group stage, which to a European sounds crazy.

The only other highlight was my ascent to the mountain near Quito, where we climbed all the way to the top and reached the summit at 4696 meters above sea level. By the end of this year, I want to get to the summit of the Cotopaxi (5897 meters) with my better half and a couple of colleagues. To prepare for this, we proposed to do one mountain every month to practice for it after the summer break. Let’s see if this plan actually works out.

The other highlight was that I once again, for the third time in a row, was able to cross the 1K dividend barrier. In total, I collected 1096,93€ from 29 stocks and/or funds.

In July, I will be going to Germany for the first time in a year to visit my family and friends and spend a year at the Baltic Sea. I’m happy for the summer break to have arrived as I love the feeling of not having to answer e-mails, preparing classes or grading exams. It’s like a short glimpse into a future after my working life.

Have a nice summer, enjoy your time off and see you in August!
