Dividend Update: April 24

5 Tips from running, that will help you to invest – i-vest

I have to admit that in April my focus wasn't really on the stock market as I was preparing myself diligently for my first ever marathon, which I finished at the end of the month in under 4 hours, of which I am somewhat proud. The analogies between investing, especially dividend investing, and marathons are of course legion and, following this analogy, April proved to be "only" a refreshment station on the way to my goal, which is still quite a few miles off. Still, one should enjoy the good months (or should I say miles?) when they come and April - apart from a dip in the middle of the month - proved to be a good month in which I once again made it easily above the 400€ a month which I had set myself as a goal at the beginning of the year. Some juicy European dividends helped along the way, pushing the total income in April to 553,10€. I did sell - after 3 years of having them in my portfolio - all my BASF stocks after getting the dividend as I have little hope with their guidance that their dividend is going to be safe in the year(s) to come. With that money, I nibbled up a few shares of the the beaten down Starbucks and British American Tobaco, hoping to have found a nice mix of growth and high yield.
